Ipad : My thoughts

The first time I saw the Ipad (my friend's) I have to admit that I was quite absorbed to this unfamiliar yet peculiar device. I have read about the Ipad before it was launched so I had a bit knowledge about it in my pockets.

At first, the Ipad was really hard to handle. I tried finding a comfortable and practical way to hold it but then I realized this was too big to be handled with comfort. The screen was impressive, I can say that. Fiddling around the icons and playing with it incisively makes you appreciate the works of the Ipad creators. The screen Love It!

But after thorough usage of the Ipad, i concluded that the screen was the only thing I found memorable. Excluding the enormous screen your basically getting an over sized Ipod(or 4 ipods stuck together with enforcing tape if you payed interest to the picture). But I'm sure a lot of people can make use of the screen watching movies and playing games.

To conclude, I have to say that Ipad is a remarkable product but I'm not sure which market it falls in. Is it an Ebook reader? A music Player? A phone? Perhaps you can shine some light with a comment.

AlJazeera world cup 2010 subsriction costs

I was really bummed yesterday when I found out that I had to buy an additional card to watch the world cup 2010. So I searched on the internet and found this article: http://www.arabianbusiness.com/588003-al-jazeera-sport-wins-world-cup-broadcast-rights
It turns out that existing subscribers (me) have to pay USD 100 (OR 38.4) to watch the five world cup channels provided by AlJazeera and new subscribers have to pay USD 130 (OR 50) .

Seems that preparations for the World Cup are just never ending! Hopefully I will get the projector up and running with aljazeera channels in time for the World Cup. If you're interested in the team I support it's the one and only SPAIN!

PC gaming in muscat?

I consider Oman to be a country with scarce PC gamers. Me for one only know of a couple of people who actually are into PC gaming and building PC'S.

I'm interested to see how many of you PC gamers are out there. So if you are a PC gamer and are "out there", post a comment and share your interests. Tell about your PC specifications and what games you enjoy. I'm sure there are some of you out there who enjoying playing games on their computer just like me.

3D T.V. To buy or not to buy?

3d technology has been out for quite a fair time now. But brand names are starting to join the 3d market like samsung for example. Sounds perfect, ey? Crashing the couch after those long hours at work infront of your hd-3d tv enjoying the statuesque eye candy of the device whilst images are leaping off your screen almost grabbing you in an instant.

But wait, perhaps i left something unmentioned. The T.V has a price tag of a whopping OR 1,400!(more or less). Yes you aren't imagining numbers that price tag is real.

Im not sure about how many of you are ready to buy such a expensive and unecessary luxury, but for me I definitely think its not worth it. Paying OR 1,400 for something you can only enjoy while wearing a pair of glasses.

When will we get proper internet services?

Probably one of the most annoying aspect in Oman's slow technological progress, is the internet.
When will we see Omanis downloading movies and playing online games at high transfer rates under reasonable prices?

The prices for modest internet speeds here in oman are RIDICULOUS! With nawras charging an astounding OR 99 a month for just a 7.2 mbps and omantel charging the same amount for only 8mbps transfer rate.

Hopefully, these companies that provide these unreasonable prices will come to know that there is a significant amount of people who will buy their services if the prices decrease buy a satisfying portion.

If this slow progress in technology persists in continuing for the years to come, who knows? People may be enjoying the luxury of flying cars while we have no choice but to stick with our traditional cars.
